A Message from Bill Raveis
In 1974, I opened the first William Raveis Real Estate office in a room above a grocery store. My tools consisted of my desk, a phone and an MLS book. My strength was my family and my dreams; my zeal was to deliver the highest level of service to my customer.
Now, 36 years later, I am proud to say that William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance is one of the top companies in the nation. We are the #1 family-owned real estate firm in the Northeast, the #3 family-owned real estate company in the United States and 10th largest real estate firm nationwide based on sales volume; yet, we still offer the local, personalized attention that we did 36 years ago.
I am particularly proud that my sons, Chris and Ryan, are actively involved in the company as well. They have been a part of my business life since they were old enough to understand what Dad did. From early discussions at the dinner table to high school jobs painting offices, to college interning in sales and finance, both Chris and Ryan have experienced every component of the real estate and mortgage industry. Now, with Chris heading up our Massachusetts sales offices and Ryan in charge of our mortgage bankers, my dream of continuing in the family tradition for the next generation has materialized.
We appreciate the contributions of our over 2,000 sales associates, managers, staff and our mortgage and insurance team. Their hard work and expertise results in annual real estate sales of over $5.5 billion, 3,000 corporate relocation transferees a year and a total mortgage volume of $6 billion. We consider them to be our business family. Our philosophy is to build long and trusting relationships in a supportive environment while giving our team the opportunity to achieve success.

A Message from Chris Raveis
After graduating from college, I joined our family business as a sales associate. I saw the passion my father had with his business and the people who worked in the company. I wanted to understand why, so I chose to begin my career as a sales associate in the company.
Three years later, I felt a strong need to learn more about the industry and to garner experience in other companies. I was offered a position with a commercial real estate firm in Atlanta where I quickly became immersed in strategic marketing, financial analysis, operations and lease negotiations.
I returned to the Northeast when I had the opportunity to be involved with a venture capital backed Internet start-up and a new business model for the real estate industry. There I built a national sales force and implemented our program in over 250 real estate companies across the U.S. The greatest part of this experience was getting to know and work with the CEOs and leadership teams of residential real estate companies in the nation. Gaining this insight as to how so many companies were run was not only invaluable, but made me eager to bring my perspective back to our family business.
In 2003, I re-joined William Raveis, where my mission was to expand our operations outside of Connecticut and become a Northeast company. This entrepreneurial venture over the past six years has been exhilarating. In addition to the success we have experienced, I find deep satisfaction with the relationships I have developed with my management team and sales associates. Working closely with my father and brother has also been a unique privilege. Moving forward, my enthusiasm remains in continuing to build our family business and in building on our commitment to hire the most talented people in the industry.

NB As a sale associate with William Raveis, Chris earned Rookie of the Year, The Distinguished Service Award for PHH Homequity, and was ranked within the top 20% of his office. At his last year working with Jones Lang LaSalle, he was recognized by the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties as one of the Top Five Brokers for the Metro Atlanta region. Since starting the company’s Massachusetts region six years ago, Chris has established 20 new offices and hired over 500 sales associate and employees. The Company was ranked the largest independent residential real estate company in Massachusetts in 2008 and was awarded highest honors and the Gold Medal in the 2008 and 2009 Banker and Tradesman readers’ poll for “Best Real Estate Company” in Massachusetts. In 2009 Chris started the company’s New York expansion with the opening of the Rye and Harrison offices in Westchester County. Chris is a graduate of Hobart College in Geneva, New York.
A Message from Ryan Raveis
I oversee the sales efforts of 30 mortgage bankers for William Raveis Mortgage in CT, MA, RI and NH. Ironically, I began my career with the Family of Companies as a William Raveis Mortgage Consultant.
Looking to gain experience beyond the family business, I ventured into the dot-com world to help launch a start-up Internet service company that became a national brand within two years. During this time, I developed and implemented one of the nation's first Internet based mortgage platforms dedicated to real estate broker partners. I gained valuable insight into the back room operations of some of America's largest lending institutions as well as major real estate firms. I then moved on to work with a large public company located in the Boston area that provides management consulting and research services, where I worked with executives at Fortune 500 companies to enhance their Internet and marketing strategies. I value my experience at these public companies and gained knowledge that strengthened the contributions I could make for our family-owned business. There is a tremendous sense of fulfillment in having my father as a mentor and working alongside my brother in the efforts to continue to build a strong company. Working in a family business also means our business associates feel they are part of a business family.

NB While at the Internet venture, Ryan was named as the youngest account manager in the company. And managed the implemetaton of Internet services into 25 brokerage firms nationally. In Ryan’s tenure with the Family of Companies, William Raveis Mortgage has exceeded its 25+ year historical record sales volume, having grown by over 40%. Ryan received a BA in Political Science from Williams College and an MBA from the FW Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College, Magna Cum Laude, in Finance & Entrepreneurship.
